Allocation Analyst

REPORTS TO: Manager of Allocation

The Merchandise Planning & Allocation department is looking for a qualified individual to play an integral role in the department. The position of Allocation Analyst is to manage the by-store inventory investment for their categories of business by accurately flowing stock to the stores in a timely and effective manner. The Allocation Analyst has a direct role and responsibility in the overall financial performance of their categories (Sales, Gross Margin and Turnover).


  • Meets distribution standards for maximizing sales through effective and timely allocation
  • Monitors and effectively adjusts replenishment flow based on current sales trends, communicating variances in basic and fashion item in stock and sell through rates
  • Manage specific departments to support unique inventory needs for on-line business
  • Demonstrates total knowledge of product layouts assortments and promotions, including regional and select store buys, and on-line store products. Communicates with the Planner and Merchants on product flow issues and strategies.
  • Reviews warehouse inventory and monitors stock levels accordingly
  • Works closely with Buying Team and Distribution Centre on vendor compliance issues (layout and pack code discrepancies, sku and size variances)
  • Identifies merchandise opportunities through constant contact with the Operations team
  • Supplies efficient, accurate by-size style/color data for the Merchant Team, for both initial purchases and re-buys, using appropriate technology software
  • Consolidates merchandise within/across districts as required to meet demand


  • Intermediate level computer skills in all Windows applications (Excel, Word)
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Undergraduate degree in business or a related field of study preferred
  • One to three years of experience in allocation and/or merchandising support and/or store management
  • Interest in merchandise trends and their financial implications
  • Strong organizational skills combined with the ability to work and develop a strong team environment
  • A minimum of 2 years of retail experience
